MUDS 3 @ UM, 1st August, 2009, Petaling Jaya – Every racer will go home remembering the cycling course in in the final leg of MUDS. It was described by our celebrity emcee, Mr Shebby Singh as one hill with 4 climbs. He personally tried the cycle course out the night before being a cycling enthusiast himself and found it very challenging and humbling. Over 200 racers were warmed-up and ready to race the last leg of the Malakoff University Duathlon Series 2009 at University Malaya. The race was flagged off by Associate Professor Datuk Dr Azarae Hj Idris, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), University Malaya at 9.00am sharp. We saw the 1st racer, Mark Williams coming back from his 1st lap of the 1st run very soon after followed closely on his heels by a group of contending Men’s University challengers and also Danny Feng. We were pleasantly surprised to see Danny returning to transition ahead of Mark after the cycle course. The University group stayed together most of the way. For Women’s University the fight was between Stephanie Chok, UiTM and Nor Juliana Ali, IIUM.

Thanks to all those who attended the awards ceremony making it such a fantastic atmosphere. All you racers made the event possible and also a success. Well done to all finishers, with a very special mention to Muhammad Dayan Kalam who persevered and finished all 3 legs at his own pace, still smiling while crossing the line at 2hrs 09 mins yesterday. We wish you all the best in your races and till we meet again at MUDS 2010.

MUDS 2 @ UNITEN, 25th July, 2009, Bangi - What an interesting race it was at the 2nd leg of MALAKOFF University Duathlon Series at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) today. We saw the Universities back to challenge for the top and best University titles. Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia is leading the foray followed closely by International Islamic University Malaysia and Universiti Malaysia Pahang for the highest number of student participation. UPNM is also the University with the best athletes.

We saw a new Men's Open winner in Dan Brown, who flew in from Korea to race in another event that got postponed but decided to come race MUDS instead. Nazihah Abdul Ghani defended her Women's Open title and she is going to try for another win next Saturday at the final leg at University Malaya on 1st August, 2009.

But the person who perhaps stole the 'show' away from the sponsors, racers and the race is the man who got persuaded to come emcee for the day - Malaysia's very own football pundit, Mr. Shebby Singh who got his photo taken more than anyone else today. Thank you Shebby for entertaining us today and replacing our usual emcee, Adele who will be expecting her 1st child any day now.

MUDS 1 @ UPM, 19th July, 2009, Serdang - It was a perfect day with lovely weather for MALAKOFF University Duathlon Series 2009 at Universiti Putra Malaysia. The race saw just under 200 people race the 1st leg of 3km run, 13km cycle and 3km run. Malakoff and PowerBar met their goals today with a large turnout from University students taking part in both the individual as well as team relay categories. Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia and International Islamic University Malaysia formed the largest groups with Universiti Malaysia Pahang and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia coming all the way from Pahang and Johor respectively. As venue hosts, UPM also had a good turnout including a 2nd placing for Women's University - well done!

We would like to congratulate all those who finished today, especially the first-timers. We want to congratulate the guy who did not give up - He realised at 8.00am that he had to bring his own bicycle which he did not have. He went to a UPM Kolej to borrow a bicycle and a helmet and completed the race with a huge smile and a friendly wave.

Imagine doing two races in one morning, one gentleman did just that. He asked if he could start later as he was going for a run race then coming to race with us. He also finished and did not come in last despite a much later start - well done.

We would like to thank Malakoff Corporation Berhad and PowerBar, our title sponsors for making this event possible. Thank you to Nestle Fitness for providing breakfast cereal to everyone including the volunteers and supporters. And finally, thank you to Universiti Putra Malaysia for being a venue host - all the racers enjoyed your safe race course, the volunteers did a superb job and kudos to the UPM staff for taking up this challenge.
